GHOST GIFT
POLYMEDIA
2025

a collaboration with artist and friend Monika Błaszczak

on this page is an archive of some of the material created along the way.

THE FILM (excerpt - please reach out if you want to see the whole film):

ghost gift

is a film-project that seeks to generate, as much as portray.

is a series of questions:

how can the film prolong Monika Błaszczak’s Soliloquy practice?

how can her practice contrast, echo, play with my own filmmaking practice?

what happens if I apply the principles of a movement practice to filmmaking?

is an exploration of how a film could be the vessel for a practice based on somatic process and becoming.

Through engaging with Monika’s practice, I am distilling from it poetic principles for the making of this film-portrait (or film-project, or film-poem, or film-process):

/ valuing the process over the product

/ approaching time as non-linear

/ conceiving the body as a spectrum

/ disobedience as an ethic of working

The film thus exists in a multidimensional space: one of engaging in the practice as well as portraying it. A successful portrait of Soliloquy can only be created by putting it through the process of the practice itself.

ghost gift is simply one exercise within the practice of Soliloquy.

as such, it is a response to a provocation. it is a process of self-choreographing, with the image (a body), with the editing (a text), and with the ghosts that are constantly at play in the game of cinema and time (present-past-future superimposed).

as such, it is shapeshifting, undefined, evolving — in short: becoming.
